Joy.
This path is an invitation to embrace curiosity and discover your inner joy. That inner sparkle, the peace from within, is the compass and your north star. Come in. Something wonderful is waiting.
The puppy out the window.
Building Gracewell has taught me that joy does not require the perfect moment. It just requires your full presence and a lot of faith.
I was meant to share my journey with others. The thought alone brings me so much joy. The moment I said yes to myself and yes to my vision of Gracewell can only be described as the pure joy of a puppy hanging its head out of the window of a car in motion.
Tongue flapping. Tail wagging. Eyes squinting. A big happy smiling mouth catching the fast flowing breeze. Completely in the moment, leaning into the ride and not the destination. Having full trust in the ride.
The puppy does not ask where are we going or are we there yet. That puppy is simply, fully and joyfully present.
That is my invitation to you. Trust the ride and let yourself be delighted by taking a chance on something you believe in.
Joy is not the same as happiness.
↓ Tap to exploreHappiness is the feeling you get when something goes right. It is real and it is good. But it is also temporary. It depends on what is happening around you.
Joy is different. Joy is an internal state. It is present even when things are hard. It is rooted in purpose and connection rather than circumstance. It is the quiet knowing that your life means something regardless of how the day is going.
The Mayo Clinic describes joy as vital for mental resilience, stress reduction, and physical health. Choosing joy is not toxic positivity. It is a practice. A decision. A way of moving through the world that belongs entirely to you.
Five times a day my phone reminds me I am going to die.
↓ Tap to exploreThere is an app called We Croak. It is based on a Bhutanese philosophy that the secret to a joyful life is contemplating death five times a day. That sounds dark. I know. But stay with me.
Every time that notification comes, I stop. And I remember that this moment, this ordinary, imperfect, unremarkable moment, is my life. And my life is a gift. Even the hard seasons are mine to live. Even the grief and the confusion and the starting over. All of it is the blessing of having breath in my lungs and another day to show up in.
We Croak taught me the difference between a giddy surface-level joy and a deep, peaceful, grateful joy that is fully aware of how fragile and precious this all is. That is the joy this path is about.
I stopped dying my hair. And it changed everything.
↓ Tap to exploreGray and white hair runs in my family. For years I spent enormous amounts of time, money, and energy covering it up. Chasing a version of myself that looked acceptable. Looked young enough. Looked like what Instagram said I should look like.
Letting it go was part of my growth. Peace Pilgrim spent fifteen years in quiet preparation before she ever took her first step. I thought about her often during those years of growing my roots out. Meeting the negative self talk with love and acceptance instead of a box of dye. I told myself I was going to come out of this like Gandalf the White. Transformed. Arrived. Undeniable.
Fast forward three years. Yes. I have arrived.
Every white strand that grows means I am blessed with another day. Another season of living. I wear my gray as a statement. As permission. As a gift I give to every person who has ever stood in a drugstore aisle wondering if they are enough as they are.
You are allowed to love yourself exactly as you are. Right now. In this season. With this hair.
Joy lives in your hands.
There is a particular kind of calm that comes from having something to hold. Something that moves in a steady, satisfying rhythm. Something that brings you back to your body when the world gets loud.
Shop the Tinker CubeThe story behind the Tinker Cube.
↓ Tap to exploreThe Tinker Cube was born in our home. A neurodivergent family searching for calm that was portable, quiet, and handheld. Something that moved in simple, steady turns, soothing through rhythm and repetition.
Since then it has been with us through anxious moments, long lines, difficult afternoons, and quiet ones when we just needed to breathe. Each turn is a breath. A reset. A soft reminder that peace can be made, not just found.
The Tinker Cube is for anyone who finds comfort in movement or needs a moment of grounding. For the restless hands, the wandering mind, the one who thinks better when their fingers are busy. For students and professionals seeking focus. For caregivers who need calm too. For seniors who benefit from gentle sensory engagement. For anyone who carries the weight of the world and needs a moment of their own.
Caring for it is easy. Keep it out of long sunbaths, do not take it swimming, and give it a gentle wipe with a damp cloth when needed.
